2500 or 3500?

1. The 3500 has a pixel-shifting capable camera, the 2500 does not.

Thus the 3500 has the ability to do ultra high def 26 megapixel images, the 2500 does not have this ability.  Please keep in mind that the standard definition image quality of the 2500 is remarkable, and still equal or better than any other desktop microfilm scanner on the market due to the extra large image sensor that comes standard on all ScanPros.
